Position Description Summary:
The Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics of the GW Milken Institute School of Public Health (GW SPH) is recruiting for a dynamic and innovative full-time tenure track or tenured faculty member at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor of Epidemiology. The successful candidate will develop a program of sponsored research as well as teach and mentor graduate students in epidemiology. Academic rank and salary will be commensurate with experience.

The Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics seeks faculty members to establish externally funded, internationally recognized, and interdisciplinary research programs in areas such as non-communicable disease epidemiology, e.g. cardiovascular, cancer, Alzheimer’s/dementia, diabetes, aging and/or reproductive health, and seeks methodologists with expertise in social, behavioral and/or spatial epidemiology.

The Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics oversees the MPH, MS and PhD programs in epidemiology, MPH program in biostatistics, and the MS program in public health microbiology and emerging infectious diseases, and collaborates with the Department of Statistics for the MS and PhD programs in biostatistic

Postdoc with a quantitative background sought for an interdisciplinary research project designed to address the disconnect between observational studies and RCTs in dementia prevention.

This work will include (a) analyses on risk factors for dementia in data from up to 8 observational datasets, (b) analyses implementing causal inference methods, and (c) writing/presenting papers on this work.

The postdoc also comes with protected time to develop a unique K, F, or R grant.

The position is at GWU, but you will work alongside a distinguished team from GWU, UCSF, Harvard, UC Davis, and UCLA, including Melinda Power (GWU), Maria Glymour (UCSF), Jaime Robins (Harvard), and others.

Preference will be given to candidates who can start in the winter/spring, but candidates with later potential start dates will also be considered.
